Application: Habits that Lead to Loving God
Habit 1 – Embrace the Uniqueness of God.
Deuteronomy 6:4 – “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.”
** “Hear” = Heb: shema... = listen to/discern/respond to the proclamation of God.
Point: To “Hear” is to absorb then respond to the truth spoken by or about God
Note 1: The privilege of Loving God is as unique as God himself.
Note 2: The privilege of loving God is to love him as he has revealed himself.
Habit 2 – Go “total immersion” with God.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 – 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Point: The purpose of Loving God is for God’s love to transcend and transform every aspect of my life.
Proverbs 7:18 – “Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love.”
